QB Zac Larrier leads Air Force to victory over Navy

Quarterback Zac Larrier led Air Force to a 17-6 win over Navy on Saturday, one week after suffering a worrisome knee injury.

The victory was highlighted by a 94-yard touchdown pass to Dane Kinamon — the longest pass in school history — that opened the scoring in the second quarter. Larrier was 4-of-5 passing for 151 yards and the touchdown while also rushing 15 times for 24 yards.

Larrier was able to play after Falcons coach Troy Calhoun said Tuesday that the quarterback would “likely be out for a while” from the injury he suffered in last week’s 34-27 victory against Wyoming.

On the other sideline, Navy gave true freshman Braxton Woodson his first career start Saturday. Woodson, an athletic 6-foot-3, 203-pound quarterback, had played in just two games, completing 6 of 16 passes for 86 yards and one touchdown. He went 2-for-6 for 6 yards before being replaced by senior Lai Lavatai after the Midshipmen managed only 11 yards and one first down through three quarters.

Larrier, a senior from Youngstown, Ohio, is the only Falcons player who has attempted a pass this season and helped the No. 22 Falcons continue their 7-0 start.
