Kareena Kapoor Khan reveals how Karisma Kapoor cleared the path for her in the industry

Kareena Kapoor Khan is all set to make her OTT debut with Jaane Jaan, alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma. The film is directed by Sujoy Ghosh and is based on the best-selling novel Devotion of Suspect X. Recently, in an interview, Kareena talked about how her sister Karisma Kapoor cleared the path for her in the film industry.

During a conversation with a leading news organisation, Kareena shared insights about her sister Karisma Kapoor’s journey in the entertainment industry. Despite facing scepticism from people, Karisma had to struggle and work hard to establish herself. She said, “I think it was a lot easier for me because people started recognizing me as Karisma’s younger sister. I think hanging around on shoots, things started opening up at the time of 1998 or 1999 where everyone was like ‘Karisma’s sister is getting launched’.”

Kareena spoke about the comments Karisma had to face regarding her light eyes and how it was believed that actresses with light eyes cannot become stars. However, Karisma paved the way for Kareena and she credits her sister for the exposure she received while being on sets with her. Kareena also acknowledges that initially, not many people supported Karisma due to the taboo of the Kapoor family.

She further added, “But she was kind of groundbreaking in so many ways that she just pushed herself, her dedication and hard work through all her films and she became the darling of the 90s. Her fans gave me a lot of love. She did a lot of commercial work and I chose an alternate path in Refugee. She was giving blockbusters. We kind of had different paths.”
