Where Louisiana ranks on list of worst U.S. roads

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The United States has a lot of roads—in fact, the nation has a larger network of roads than any other country. But a recent poll by ConsumerAffairs shows that some roads in the U.S. are better than others, and some states have better roads than other states.

If you live in Louisiana and your friend complains that “we have the worst roads in the country,” you can now let your friend know that Louisiana doesn’t have the worst roads in the country.

We have the fourth-worst roads in the nation.

And it might surprise you to hear which states were given the title of worst and second worst roads in America.

But before we talk about the worst roads, we need to classify Minnesota, Alabama, and Indiana as the three U.S. states with the best roads.

Rhode Island, Hawaii, and California had the worst, by the way.

Arkansas had the 9th worst.

These figures were based on fatalities per 100 million miles, road surface roughness, the percentage of rural roads given a poor rating, the percentage of urban roads given a poor rating, and the amount of money spent on road improvement every year.

Georgia and Florida proved that coastal states do not always have worse roads. Both states deployed sizable road budgets to attain “best roads” status.
