WHEELING, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man has been arrested and charged in West Virginia after five federal search warrants were executed Friday morning as part of an ongoing federal drug trafficking investigation.
According to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice, three residences in Wheeling, WV and two in Bellaire, OH had search warrants served on them “without incident.” During the searches, law enforcement said they found controlled substances, firearms and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Following the searches, Quavonte Pugh, 28, of Wheeling, was arrested at his home on Carmel Road and charged with possession with intent to deliver several drugs including fentanyl, cocaine and crack rock cocaine, the release said. Pugh also has a prior federal drug distribution conviction.
This case is being investigated by the Ohio Valley Drug Task Force which is made up of officers and agents from the Wheeling Police Department, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department, the West Virginia State Police and the Drug Enforcement Association. The task force was assisted on Friday by the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms and the Hancock-Brooke-Weirton Drug Task Force.
