Tata Motors Punch electric sub-4 meter micro SUV spotted at a charging station: Launch soon

It is no secret that Tata Motors is working on the electrified version of its highly popular micro-SUV, the Punch. The test mules of this hotly anticipated car have been spotted on numerous occasions in the country, and in recent history, the frequency of its sightings has increased. Most recently, another test mule of the upcoming Tata Punch EV was spotted sitting at a charging station with a charger attached to the front of the vehicle.

The picture of the Tata Punch EV standing at an electric vehicle charging station has been shared on Instagram by B.choww on their page. From the first picture, it can be noted that the car looks just like the standard ICE Tata Punch; however, there are a few differences, some of which are subtle and others not so much. The first thing that can be noted is that the car has its charging panel on the front bumper. A lid can be seen that has been opened up, and the standard charger has been attached to it.

Apart from this, the overall front of the car in the picture appears to be exactly the same as the ICE Punch. Another detail that can be noted is that the car is fully covered in body-hugging camouflage. In the next picture, it can also be noted that the car has been equipped with what seems to be the alloy wheels from a Tata Tiago. Most likely, this is just a spare set of wheels and tires, and the production version will have a different design. Apart from that, the only difference that can be noted is that the car will come equipped with disc brakes in the rear as well, which the outgoing ICE model does not have.

Just a few days ago, another test mule of the Tata Punch EV was spotted, but on that occasion, it was seen sitting on a flatbed. The same key details were also noted on that particular instance. The only additional observation from the previous test mule was that interior pictures of it were also shared. And, just like the exterior, the interior also looked pretty much identical to the outgoing model. The Punch EV interior also features the same 7.0-inch Harman Kardon touchscreen infotainment screen and automatic climate control.

At the moment, the exact details about the powertrain of this upcoming EV are unknown, but most likely, the Punch EV is slated to be powered by the same Ziptron technology that also powers the likes of the Tata Tiago EV and Nexon EV. There are multiple battery packs on offer that deliver different ranges. For the recently launched Tiago EV, the company offers the hatchback with a 24 kWh battery pack that delivers an MIDC-certified range of 315 km. And there is also a smaller 19.2 kWh battery pack available, which offers an MIDC-certified range of 250 km. Most likely, these numbers will also be retained by the Tata Punch EV.
