Tata Curvv price, launch date, Bharat Mobility Expo 2024

Tata Curvv will go on sale in the coming months and is expected to get at least three powertrain options.

The Tata Curvv has been displayed on the first day of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024. While the brand still calls it the “Curvv concept”, the vehicle shown looks production ready. The Curvv was earlier shown, more than once, in various stages of development, and is expected to go on sale in the coming months.

  1. Tata Curvv to take on midsize segment SUVs
  2. Will get multiple powertrain options
  3. Will get 18-inch wheels, 360-degree camera

Tata Curvv: what’s new

Slated to be Tata Motors’ first all-new product launch this year, the Curvv SUV has a sharp-looking fascia, combined with a unique coupe-like roofline, which will help it stand out in a segment populated by more upright SUVs such as the Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara and the Hyryder, among others. Patent images that surfaced yesterday gave us a glimpse of the Curvv’s final design and its appearnace at the event shows that the SUV’s styling has not much changed from the one shown at the Auto Expo last year, except a few tweaks.

The LED light bar on the Curvv now extends even further, and looks similar to the one that we’ve seen on the Nexon facelift. The grille now gets a mix of piano black and body colour finish instead of just being body coloured. The front bumper gets new headlamp and foglamp housings that look similar to the Harrier and Safari facelifts. There is an additional air vent that is seen between the grille and the license plate housing, which could be specific to Curvv petrol and diesel. The air intake on the front bumper is much larger and now gets a prominent faux skid plate.

On the side, the wing mirrors are mounted on the doors and the flush door handles continue on the Curvv, making it the first Tata to come with such door handle setup. At the back, the LED light bar gets a dark tint and the tail-lamps now get production ready elements. The vertically positioned air inlets on the rear bumper also house additional reflectors – that about all the changes on the Curvv seen in these new images. What we can also confirmed with the images is that the Curvv will get a full LED light setup, atleast on top models, along with a 360-degree camera and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Tata Curvv: dimensions, powertrain options

The Curvv measures 4,308mm in length, is 1,810mm wide and 1,630mm high. This, along with a 2,560mm wheelbase, puts it bang in the centre of the midsize SUV segment. It gets a 422-litre boot.

The Curvv will get multiple powertrains – sources tell us that the Curvv EV will go on sale initially, giving it a first-mover advantage over the likes of the upcoming Creta EV, which will have similar dimensions and price range. The Curvv EV is also expected to take on the born-EV SUVs from Maruti and Toyota that will go on sale sometime next year.

Apart from the Curvv EV, Tata will also bring the SUV to the market with petrol and diesel engine options. In fact, the model displayed at the event is a diesel-powered Curvv; we had reported that the Nexon’s 1.5-litre diesel will see duty on the Curvv and this version will go on sale after the Curvv EV. Following that, the Curvv will get its petrol engine option – a 125hp, 225Nm, 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine – and a CNG option will also be offered. Multiple gearbox options can also be expected such as a manual, AMT and even a DCT automatic, depending on the powertrain.

Tata Curvv India launch timeline

Tata Curvv EV series production will commence around April this year at Tata Motors’ Ranjangaon plant near Pune. Tata Motors has set an annual sales target of around 48,000 units for the Curvv SUV, with 12,000 units expected from the Curvv EV.
