Sonakshi Sinha, who will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi – A Diamond Bazaar, talked about the song Tilasmi Bahein, which was shot in a single take. The actress opened up about it during the trailer launch of the much-anticipated series. She had never done a one-shot song in her entire career and was pushed by the filmmaker to attempt it and give her best.
Sonakshi further added how difficult it was. She said “We had rehearsed for the song, which we had to shoot in a span of four days.”
“I went on set, and we shot till about 3 p.m., and then Sanjay just got up and decided that ‘nahi mujhe yeh nahi karna, mujhe kuch aur karna hai’.”
She further added “He decided to sit down with the ADs, call them one by one, and make them dance to the song. We just thought he was having a good time, entertaining himself by doing all of this on set and at 7 p.m. Do something like what this guy did over here and get on the table and do that ‘junglee dance, which you are so good at doing anyway. Then chair ke ke saath yeh karna, woh log haath-pair dabayengay… Fir tum hookstep pakadlena’.”
The actress, who had never given a one-shot take, was really nervous. However, the director showed confidence in her, pushed her, and it was ‘okayed’ in the first take itself.
Heeramandi – The Diamond Bazaar is set to release on May 1 on an OTT platform. It is created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal.
