Bali’s Uluwatu is home to some of the most mesmerizing sunset spots on the island. The rugged clifftops of Uluwatu offer a spectacular vantage point to watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean.

As Uluwatu booms in popularity, Bali lovers are always on the lookout for a sunset spot that is undiscovered.

Sitting nestled between iconic Bingin Beach and Dreamland Beach on the Bukit Peninsula is the stunning and secret Cemongkak Beach.

The little-known beach offers incredible sunset views, away from the crowds, and is a great spot for surfing and sunbathing in the daytime too.

There is no entry free to access Cemongkak Beach, though visits should be prepared for a little bit of a hike.

Given the high cliffs of Uluwatu, anyone heading that side should brace their legs for some pretty serious ascends and descends if they want to enjoy the best of the Uluwatu coastline.

When the tide is out, the pristine stretch of coastline is revealed. Soft white sand is peppered with moss and seaweed-covered boulders, giving the beach plenty of character.

The light turquoise water gets the best of the midday sun and is always the perfect temperature.

The secret is definitely out of the bag when it comes to Cemongkak Beach, and the hideaway is gaining steadily increasing interest from both local and international tourists.

Australian surfer Thomas James shared his experience of the beach with reporters.

He shared, “I have been in Bali for almost two weeks and stay in the Pecatu area. The waves at this beach are good for surfing, so I have been here several times.”

The beach is perfect for sunset picnics and BBQs. Local resident Andi Saputra told reporters, “While having a picnic here, the BBQ was fun, and the wind wasn’t strong either. It’s good to enjoy the sunset.”

According to both Saptura and James, Cemongkak Beach remains something of a secret because it’s a little harder to access than other beaches in Uluwatu.

Tourists visiting Cemongkak Beach must remember to leave at least 20 minutes before the last light as the trail down to the beach is not lit up at night.

Bingin Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Uluwatu. Great for surfing, sunbathing, and all kinds of fun in the sun, it’s easy to see why Bingin Beach sits high on a beach lover’s bucket list in Bali.

There’s always a bit of a buzz at Bingin; it’s the kind of spot where tourists mingle with one another, and the parties start organically.

The stretch of beach is lined with cafes, bars, and restaurants that are busy day and night, serving up local classics and international favorites.

Lucky Fish Lounge is one of the most popular eateries on Bingin Beach. The menu features an incredible range of seafood, beach snacks, and of course, ice-cold Bintang beers.

Dreamland Beach sits on the northern edge of Cemongkak Beach and is another lesser-known beach that deserves more praise.

Best known for surfing, Dreamland Beach offers a perfect day out at the beach. There are plenty of sun loungers and shady umbrellas available to hire and more than enough space to set up your own camp with towels and blankets if that’s more your vibe.

Dreamland Warung really has a monopoly as one of the only big cafes on the beachfront. The cafe serves everything beach-bound tourists could wish for and more.

The European-inspired menu offers plenty of pasta, salads, pizzas, and burgers, as well as light snacks and kids-sized portions to keep everyone happy.

The walk down to Dreamland Beach is easier than many other beaches in Uluwatu, and parking at the clifftop costs IDR 15,000, though entry to the beach itself is free.
