San Jose police: Suspected serial bank robber busted in Antioch

(KRON) — A 37-year-old Antioch man is accused of stealing money from banks stretching between San Jose to Modesto, and using a woman as his getaway driver.

On Wednesday the San Jose Police Department identified the serial bank robbery suspect as Brandon Lopez, 37, of Antioch. His alleged getaway driver was identified as Tamara Bush, 43, of Antioch, according to police.

The duo was arrested on March 6 at Lopez’s Antioch home. Officers said they searched his house and found a gun, as well as ammunition.

Police said Lopez used a hand-written note to pull off the alleged bank heists. The note told bank tellers, “I need all the money in both your drawers. Be quick. No games.”

San Jose police launched an investigation after a bank was robbed of $1,000 cash on West Capitol Expressway on February 12.

Robbery Unit Detectives said they determined that Lopez was responsible for more bank robberies throughout Northern California, including in Modesto, Milpitas, Fremont, and Sacramento. “Detectives also identified suspect Tamara Bush as the getaway driver for all six robberies,” police wrote.

Lopez remained locked in a Santa Clara County jail with no bail on Wednesday, inmate records show.
