The Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI runway saw fashion designers from across the country celebrate innovation and creativity. The five-day celebration of fashion was enhanced with live music performances introduced by some of the best designers.

Matching the theme of the showcase and the collection displayed, the runway turned into a stage where music and fashion walked hand in hand. From the disco-funk moves of Saba Azad, the golden voice of Sushant Divgikr to the multi-instrumental act by Raghav Sachar, each musical performance showcased on the runway left a long-lasting impact on the audience.

Sushant Divgikr for ITRH

The goddess with the golden voice, Sushant Divgikr aka Rani KoHEnur enthralled everyone with her fierce voice as she opened ITRH’s show to the popular number ‘Maiya Maiya’. Draped in a shimmery gold corset gown, Sushant mesmerised everyone with her performance and also sashayed down the runway in the sparkling ensemble like a true Queen. ITRH presented TITI a collection inspired by Queen Nefertiti, one of Egypt’s most iconic figures and every ensemble displayed on the runway was a tribute to the strength and beauty of the feminine spirit.

Hardik Chauhan for Gaurang

Gaurang Shah’s showcases have always left the audience wanting for more. A cinematic experience celebrating fashion, this season, Gaurang welcomed singer Hardik Chauhan into his show. The Germany-based Indian singer, who hails from a village in Ahmedabad is a self-taught artiste. According to Gaurang, he spotted one of Hardik’s YouTube videos and was enamoured by his singing. Gaurang, who was keen to showcase Hardik’s talents at his show, flew down the singer from Germany. And we are glad he did it! Hardrik’s captivating divine voice beautifully blended with Gaurang’s colourful showcase.

Jonqui and DJ Srii for AKOK by Anamika Khanna

Anamika Khanna is one of the few Indian designers who knows how to throw a party on the runway. This season with AKOK, Anamika elevated her showcase with live music featuring popular singer and DJ Shrii and renowned percussionist Jonqui. AKOK’s spirit merged with the rhythmic music of the performing artists adding an extra edge to the colourful showcase.

Bhuwin for JJV Kapurthala by JJ Valaya

JJ Valaya’s bridge to luxury label JJV Kapurthala’s showcase transported the audience to a world of celebration and travel. Bringing a symphony of cultures and storytelling through his collection Char, JJ Valaya celebrated his show with a one-of-a-kind performance put together by artist Bhuwin. Entertaining everyone with his act, the winning track of the evening was the melodious rendition of ‘Mast Nazron Se’.

Saba Azad and Imaad Shah (Madboy/Mink) for Geisha Designs

Once again Geisha Designs had Saba Azad and Imaad Shah deliver an electrifying disco-funk performance at the showcase. Talking about their performance, Saba and Imaad (Madboy/Mink) express, “We’re so happy to be back collaborating with Geisha Designs again. Fashion and music go hand in hand and we’re just so happy to bring our brand of Indian Disco and Funk to new audiences at Lakme’ Fashion Week. Paras and Shalini have created something unique keeping the 5 elements in mind and we think it goes so well with our music. We’ve tried to curate a set of songs from our repertoire that really complement the flavour of the collection in collaboration with Lakmé Salon.”

Raghav Sachar for Ranna Gill

Ranna Gill weaved a symphony of perennial styles and hues of nature and unveiled them into a hypnotising tapestry of beauty with her collection Urban Prairie. Ranna also brought the runway to life with an enchanting performance by renowned singer and musician Raghav Sachar. Playing the flute, clarinet and saxophone, Raghav performed to the tunes of ‘Flowers’ and ‘Titanium’ to name a few. He also got Madhuri Dixit Nene to dance to his tunes at the showcase, making it a memorable night of fashion and entertainment.
