(KRON) — Police said a Berkeley Hills home invasion escalated rapidly into violence on Monday morning. Two masked men wielding handguns broke into a Kensington house while multiple residents were at home at 11 a.m., police said.
“According to eyewitness and victim accounts, the perpetrators forcibly entered the residence, confronting the occupants and demanding valuables. The situation escalated rapidly, with one of the suspects physically assaulting a victim. The suspects took wallets, phones, and a home safe,” the Kensington Police Department wrote.
The two men fled in a white getaway car and evaded arrest.
One victim was taken to a hospital to receive medical treatment.
KPD wrote, “The psychological impact of such a traumatic event cannot be understated. The experience undoubtedly shook the victims; however, the community will not be intimidated by this senseless act of violence. In response to this alarming event, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and security.”
