Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast on the Tunnel of Love and more

In a year of successful text-to-screen adaptations, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is poised to be a promising addition. Based on Rick Riordan’s best-selling book series, the show features Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri in lead roles. During a press conference attended by Filmfare, the cast and crew shared the scenes they are most excited about.

When asked about their favourite scenes from the upcoming fantasy series, Walker Scobell who plays Percy Jackson and Leah Sava Jefferies who plays Annabeth Chase agreed upon the fan-favourite Tunnel of Love scene. Scobell said, “There’s a lot of great moments in the show. I think one of my favourite moments is the Tunnel of Love. Kind of a basic answer, but I think it really kind of sets up the relationship for the rest of the series.”

Chase said, “I actually agree with what he said about the Tunnel of Love because I think that’s really when you can start to see the chemistry and the intenseness of how the friendship is building.”

She added, “At first, Annabeth and Percy are like enemies to each other. One is joking with others. Like ‘Stop doing that, please.’ That’s really built the character. When it was in the Tunnel of Love, that’s what made them realise, ‘Oh, this person is not so bad.’ And ‘You’re not so bad either.’”

Given that the adaptation has the author’s involvement (Riordan is onboard as executive producer), fans can look forward to several book-accurate scenes. The lead trio hyped another scene from the series – the Ares fight. When asked about a scene that they can’t wait for audiences to witness, Scobell quipped, “I mean, come on. It’s the Ares fight. I don’t even think there needs to be an explanation.” Aryan Simhadri who plays Grover Underwood added, “The Council of Cloven Elders scene was really fun. I’m not sure if it made it to the final cut but it was just this day of everyone dressed like me. No one talked with words except for me.”

Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which is an eight-part series in its first season, will be released on December 20, 2023, on OTT.
