OpenAI: OpenAI launches new ChatGPT feature, makes a joke about the company’s ‘chaos’

The last few days have been rather eventful at OpenAI with a CEO being fired, another one hired, another fired and old one coming back. Amidst all the drama and chaos, OpenAI has rolled out a rather important ChatGPT feature. It’s not really a new feature but has been made available to free users as well. On the ChatGPT app on both iOS and Android, users can now use voice prompts to get their queries answered.
Voice and image give you more ways to use ChatGPT in your life, said the company. Some examples of using voice for ChatGPT, as per OpenAI, are: snap a picture of a landmark while traveling and have a live conversation about what’s interesting about it. Or When you’re home, snap pictures of your fridge and pantry to figure out what’s for dinner (and ask follow up questions for a step by step recipe). Furthermore, after dinner, help your child with a math problem by taking a photo, circling the problem set, and having it share hints with both of you, said OpenAI.
A ‘joke’ prompt to debut the feature
OpenAI took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce the availability of the feature. And it did rather cheekily. In the tweet, OpenAI gave an example and the question asked to ChatGPT was: “It’s been a long night for the team, and we’re hungry. How many 16-inch pizzas should I order for 778 people?” That’s the total number of employees OpenAI has and it has been quite a few eventful days at OpenAI. “ChatGPT Voice rolled out for all free users. Give it a try — totally changes the ChatGPT experience,” posted Greg Brockman, president and co-founder of OpenAI.
Meanwhile, the drama at OpenAI is seemingly over as Sam Altman has been rehired as CEO after being fired five days ago.
