One Piece, Demon Slayer & More

Netflix is currently one of the most extensive libraries for anime shows. The list is quite diverse and expansive. From featuring mainstream shonen series like One Piece and Demon Slayer to thriller dramas like Beastars. Even though the leading anime streaming platform is Crunchyroll, there are some great series on Netflix. Here are five anime series that are worth subscribing to Netflix for!

Attack on Titan

Starting the list with one of the most apparent series, Attack on Titan. Hajime Isayama’s magnum opus undoubtedly impacted the new-generation shonen significantly. This series traces some dark topics that do a great job of reflecting the cruelty of human behaviors. Moreover, with spectacular animation handled by WIT Studio and MAPPA, this series is a must-watch! Political intrigue, a compelling cast of characters, and bigger-than-life battles pack this narrative.

Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer is considered one of the largest mainstream shōnen at the moment. The plot follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado, whose family is slaughtered by a demon. Following these unfortunate events, he joins the ranks of the demon slayers. Also, his little sister Nezuko has become a demon as she survived the onslaught. The protagonist goes on a journey to search for a cure and joins the Demon Slayer Corps. The anime is produced by Ufotable which means the animation and action are breathtaking. Along with the intricate story, engaging characters, and stellar music, the anime does a great job of delivering an immersive experience for the audience.

Beastars

Beastars is probably a weird one on this list. It is set in a world of anthropomorphic animals. Moreover, it is pretty similar to Disney’s Zootopia, where these animals live lives similar to humans. Driving cars, living in apartments, and having jobs.

Beastars also handled the predator versus prey theme by addressing prejudice, discrimination, compassion, and inclusivity, similar to how it was in Zootopia. This series does have some heavy sexual themes and sequences involving violence. So it is better for children to stay away from this one. However, if you’re into melodramas that are heavy-handed on philosophizing, this may be the best show for you yet.

Devilman Crybaby

In the world of Devilman Crybaby, demons are arriving on Earth. In such a wry predicament, our protagonist, Akira Fudo, unites with a demon. He becomes a devil man to start a massive war against the demons that lurk on the ground.

Go Nagai’s manga, which received an anime adaptation back in the ’70s, serves as the basis for this series. Surprisingly, this series focuses on the rather modern world and addresses more mature themes and violent sequences. This series is undoubtedly not for kids!

One Piece is one of the longest-running anime series. Even the manga is nearing its 1100th chapter soon. Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece has been running for well over two decades now and stretches over 1000 episodes.

The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates. They’re on a grand adventure to seek the legendary treasure known as One Piece. Also, fans of this series would be happy to know that Netflix recently expanded its four-season collection of One Piece to 13 seasons. Time to catch up with our future Pirate King!
