New Zealand v South Africa

The Wankhede is set to host a top four clash on Wednesday, with South Africa going up against tournament favourites New Zealand. The Proteas come into the clash in good form, having lost only one out of their six games in the tournament, so far. The Kiwis, on the other hand, have lost their last two games after a great start to the competition.

New Zealand’s stand out performer, 23-year-old Rachin Ravindra, will look to keep his good form going in this clash, having scored a century in their defeat to Australia, while the Proteas’ bowling attack does its best to shut him down.

South Africa’s top order has been firing on all cylinders, led by Quentin de Kock and Aiden Markram. The Proteas will look to take a page out of their rugby counterparts, who won the Rugby World Cup against New Zealand over the weekend.

The Blackcaps and the Proteas have gone up against each other 71 times in the 50-over-game, with the South Africans boasting the better record, having won 41 of the games, with the Kiwis winning just 25.

Of the five wins South Africa has registered in the tournament so far, four of those were won by a margin of at least hundred runs, with Temba Bavuma’s men racking up high totals and consequently shutting down their opponents run chases.

The Kiwis could get a boost from the potential return of captain Kane Williamson, who missed all their matches except one in the tournament so far after a thumb injury. New Zealand might miss bowler Lockie Ferguson, who has picked up an injury.

South Africa’s squad, led by Temba Bavuma, features Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen, and Lizaad Williams.

The Blackcaps have brought Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitch Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee and Will Young to the tournament.
