The Frisco City Council on Tuesday will weigh whether to nominate Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. for the Texas Enterprise Zone Program as the beverage maker plans to invest millions of dollars more in the North Texas city.

Keurig Dr Pepper plans to invest $25 million in facility improvements and modernizations in Frisco over the next five years, according to a memorandum from the city’s economic development corporation. The sum also includes the purchase of new IT equipment and software, in addition to the digitization of its procurement management office.

Frisco’s nomination to the enterprise zone program would include the retention of 490 full-time jobs, along with the creation of 10 full-time jobs at The Star, the mixed-use development that includes the Dallas Cowboys headquarters. Keurig Dr Pepper employed 1,187 people at its Frisco co-headquarters as of January 2023.

The Texas Enterprise Zone Program is managed through the governor’s office. Companies must be nominated by their communities to be considered. Once enrolled in the program, companies can apply for refunds of state sales and use taxes they have paid for certain expenditures. Keurig Dr Pepper would qualify for a potential refund of $1.25 million.

Keurig Dr Pepper stemmed from the merger of Dr Pepper Snapple Group, formerly based in Plano, with Keurig Green Mountain in 2018. The company moved its co-headquarters to Frisco a few years later.
