Last Thursday, Vogue HQ hosted Vogue Clubâs first Meet The Founder of 2024 with the iconic Jenna Lyons. In conversation with Arden Fanning Andrews, Vogueâs beauty editor at large, and Margaux Anbouba, Vogueâs senior beauty and wellness editor, Lyons discussed the beginnings of her chic false eyelash brand Loveseen, her time at J.Crew, overcoming setbacks, and developing her signature beauty look. Ever the transparent It girl, Lyons revealed that her red lip, slicked-back hair, and glasses combo all came from necessity: She had no time for makeup, so she started wearing a red lip; she slicked back her hair because her young son at the time would pull on it; and she started wearing chic glasses because she noticed she was tripping up the stairs while texting.
At the studio, attending Vogue Clubbers received their copy of American Vogueâs March 2024 issue and a selection of Lyonsâs Loveseen eyelashes. When asked about her decision to jump into the beauty world after a nearly 30-year career in fashion, Lyons reminisced on Loveseenâs origins.
âWhen I left J.Crew, I didnât know what I was going to do. I so connected my personality, my persona, who I was, and also my importance to my job, which is a really dangerous thing to do,â said Lyons. But she realized her love for false eyelashes while working with the producers of a television project, and developed a business plan. âI said, Iâm kind of obsessed with eyelashes because I donât have any of my ownââLyons has a genetic disorder, incontinentia pigmentiââ[so] I thought there had to be something in between eyelash extensions and giant false eyelashes⦠and I wanted to do something of my own.â And so, a whole new chapter of Lyonsâs story began.
