A clothing maker from Tokyo worked together with a team of veterinarians to create a wearable fan for pets. This initiative was taken to help anxious pet parents help their pets beat the heat. The device created is battery operated, 80-gramme (3-ounce) fan that is attached to an outfit made of mesh. The wearable fan will blow air around a pet’s body.
The president of maternity clothing maker called ‘Sweet Mommy’, Rei Uzawa stated that her chihuahua pet dog was her motivation to create this wearable fan. Rei mentioned that her pet used to get exhausted every time they were out on a walk during the summers. She added saying “There was almost no rain this year, the summer days came in early, and in that sense, I think we developed a product that is right for the market,”
The Japanese capital city suffers the longest heatwave on record, with the temperature rising to 35 degrees Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) after the rainy season. Mami Kumamoto, the 48-year-old pet parent to a miniature poodle named Pudding and a terrier named Maco,
stated that she used to use dry ice packs to help keep her canine cool during the summers. But, I think wearable fans are an easier and more convenient option. It can also be used for their daily walks.
The wearable fan was launched at the beginning of July and Sweet Mommy has received more than 100 orders for this unique product. The wearable fans are available in five different sizes and are priced at 9,900 yen ($74).
