The long-awaited Godzilla Minus One streaming release date has finally been revealed—though U.S. viewers will be left waiting a little while longer. Toho’s acclaimed Academy Award-winning Kaiju movie is finally making its way to smaller screens via a subscription model, and Amazon Prime Video subscribers in Japan will be able to stream the film very soon.
When is Godzilla Minus One’s first streaming release date?
The Godzilla Minus One streaming release date is May 3, 2024. The film will be available to watch via Amazon Prime Video in Japan only, with a U.S. release having yet to be revealed.
On April 16, 2024, Prime Video Japan’s Twitter handle revealed that the movie will be available to stream on the platform on May 3, 2024. The film originally hit theaters in Japan on November 3, 2023, and found its way to the North American theaters on December 1, 2023.
Following that, it won several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the 96th Oscars night in March. Since its theatrical release, it has taken its time to make it to Amazon Prime Video. But unfortunately for fans in the U.S. and overseas, the Godzilla Minus One streaming release is still limited only to Japan.

For now, Godzilla Minus One will only begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video Japan on May 3. Prime Video subscribers in the rest of the world have to wait a bit longer as no streaming release date has been allotted for the US and overseas.

However, fans in Japan can watch the film before its Prime Video Japan’s release, as both Blu-ray and DVD versions of the film will hit the shelves on May 1, 2024. But the dates for Godzilla Minus One’s digital and physical releases in the US are yet to be announced.
Until an official announcement, Godzilla fans in the U.S. could still catch Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire in theaters and contribute to its successful box office run. Popcorn bucket collectors can also get their hands on multiple variants of The New Empire buckets and merchandise in the meantime.
