Galaxy Z Fold 6 Renders Hint At A Much-Anticipated Change In Design

At the first Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, Samsung revealed the Galaxy S24 series powered by AI. Now, at the second Unpacked event that might be held in August, the company will unveil the next-generation foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6. And even though we are months away from the expected launch, details about the foldables keep pouring in. The latest bits come from Z Fold 6’s renders.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 Renders Showcase A Wider Primary Display

Tipster David Kowalski has leaked some Galaxy Z Fold 6 renders in collaboration with Pigto. The renders indicate that Samsung has changed the overall form factor of its flagship foldable. From the Galaxy Z Fold 5 being tall and narrow, the Z Fold 6 could be slimmer and broader, much like the OnePlus Open. The updated design will also change the aspect ratio of the primary and secondary screens on the phone.

Upcoming Foldable Will Be Slimmer Than Predecessor

The render also suggests that the Z Fold 6 will be slimmer than the Z Fold 5. This information is in line with what The Elect reported last month. Since the Chinese foldable from companies like Huawei are much slimmer (even though they have a larger battery), Samsung seems to be losing its market share in the region. This makes the latest renders more believable.

Samsung Is Also Working On A New Hinge

To retain durability, the Korean tech giant will introduce a new hinge module on the smartphone. Citing information from a recent patent, Samsung could be looking at a hinge with multiple housings distributed symmetrically on either side of the hinge. This will, in turn, ensure that both sides bear equal weight. The hinge will also provide stopping points so users can rest the phone in one position.

New Camera Module On The Z Fold 6

Last but not least, the renders showcase a slightly different camera module on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Until now, Samsung has used a slightly raised camera module that houses the three camera sensors on the foldable’s rear panel. However, on the Z Fold 6, Samsung might provide a camera setup similar to the one on the Galaxy S24 — without a camera island — with individual lenses protruding from the back panel.

In a related development, Samsung is also experimenting with a larger Galaxy Z Flip 6 battery. This will improve the one aspect that led the phone down in several reviews. Further, the flip-style foldable could also come with a larger cover screen. Read more about the Galaxy Z Flip 6 here.
