Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary package: what’s new?

The Anniversary package is only cosmetic, and as such, isn’t very elaborate – it’s just a few key details relating it to the original. The most noticeable of those are a new set of 20-inch dark grey alloy wheels with a simple five-spoke design, mimicking the original 1964 design, and is replete with red centre caps. Additionally, there are ‘5.0’ badges on the front fenders and a ‘GT’ badge on the boot also reminiscing the past.

It also gets a smoked-out effect for the headlamps and a new retro mesh design for the grille with some contrasting silver accents; the wing mirror caps are also finished in silver which is meant to mimic the chrome on the original Mustang. The Mustang 60th Anniversary package can be had in three exterior colour options – White, Race Red or Vapour Blue – with contrasting stripes at the base of the doors in red or silver. On the inside, it gets a special 60th Anniversary plaque on the dashboard, and the upholstery comes finished in either grey, black or red.

The Mustang 60th Anniversary package can only be had in GT Premium spec, which means under the hood, it gets the 5.0-litre, Coyote V8 engine mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic, driving the rear wheels. The engine produces 480hp and 560Nm of torque, and can be had in both convertible and coupe guises.

Additionally, not relating to the 60th Anniversary package, Ford has also introduced a new Heritage gauge cluster for all 2024 Mustangs. To be rolled out via an over-the-air update on the seventh-generation Mustang, the digital instrument cluster boasts of two retro dials for speed and engine RPM that look straight out of 1960s.

A few years ago, we brought together two of the finest examples of restored classic Mustangs in India – a 1968 Bullitt Mustang replica and a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 with a 5.8-litre V8 – along with the modern 2018 Ford Mustang GT for a blast of nostalgia, which you can watch here.
