Detectives still investigating Pasadena shooting that injured 5 – Daily News

Pasadena Police on Saturday provided few updates on the Friday night shooting that sent five people to the hospital on the 100 block of Orange Grove Boulevard.

The latest string of shootings plaguing northwest Pasadena erupted shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 25, according to authorities, at the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Responding to 911 calls of shots fired, law enforcement officials found five people with injuries. There names were not released. There was no update Saturday on their injuries.

Pasadena PD Robbery and Homicide Units as well their Gang Units were on scene, though officials said they had no further information on a motive or how the incident began.

“It’s an ongoing investigation, there’s been nothing new to update,” Lt. Derek Lochlin said.

No arrests have been made in connection and there have been no description of possible suspects, he added.

While officers were responding to 911 calls, police officials said Shot Spotter was alerted as well.

The shooting comes amid a rise in gun violence following the onset of the pandemic that increased shootings 22%, with northwest Pasadena being a particular hotspot.

Just two months ago, two separate shooting incidents on the same night injured three people and nearly struck a 2-year-old — all within less than half a mile of Friday’s scene.

“Anytime there’s a shooting and someone is injured it’s a concern, it’s of particular concern when five individuals are shot and injured,” Mayor Victor Gordo said.  “The real discussion we need to have is how do we prevent people from involving themselves in gang violence? That’s a complicated discussion, but it’s time to bring that discussion forward to (the) City Council.”
