Taking a page from manga and book publishers, DC has revealed that they will begin selling a new line of “Compact Comics” graphic novels that stand at a modest 5.5″ x 8.5″. The same size as a trade paperback novel, these graphic novels are intended to be an easy way for new readers to pick up some of the most popular titles for only $9.99. “The DC Compact Comics price and sizing is perfect for readers of prose and manga looking to pick up a new-reader-friendly storyline in a self-contained full color graphic novel,” said Anne DePies, SVP & General Manager at DC.
The line will begin publication in June 2024 with some of DC’s most popular series, including stories from Batman legends such as Scott Snyder, Paul Dini, and Ed Brubaker. The full list of titles that will be part of the initial launch, along with some of the covers, can be seen below:
