BLANCHARD, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest in a double homicide investigation.

CPSO said that around 11:30 pm on Friday, April 19, a resident called saying they saw a person who fit the description of 26-year-old Michael McKnight on their security camera. McKnight was suspected of a double homicide in the 5900 block of Attaway Hill Lane.

The investigation engaged many CPSO deputies and investigators throughout the day as they discovered details after a welfare call led them to a deceased male and female inside their Attaway Hill Lane home.

Just after 9 p.m. on Friday evening, CPSO released an image of McKnight and named him as a person of interest in the double homicide.

Deputies patrolled a perimeter near the home and Walter B. Jacob Park with assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, Caddo K-9 deputies, and David Wade Correction Chase Team.

McKnight was found hiding in a primitive shelter that he’d set up beneath a fallen tree inside the park and was captured by a CPSO K-9. He was arrested and faces two second-degree murder charges for the victims, identified as 64-year-old Roderick McKnight and his wife, 62-year-old Kathleen McKnight.

He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
