Becomes India’s most affordable ADAS equipped car

Just a few days after introducing the Knight Edition variants of the Venue compact SUV, Hyundai has now updated the Venue with ADAS features and a new transmission for the turbo-petrol powertrain. Called Hyundai SmartSense, the new list of ADAS features has been added to the top-spec SX(O) variant of the 2023 Hyundai Venue, making it the most affordable car in India to have advanced driver assistance systems.

The Hyundai SmartSense package of ADAS features introduced in the 2023 Venue includes forward collision warning, forward collision avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, driver attention warning, lane following assist, high beam assist, and leading vehicle departure alert. The list of ADAS features has also been added to the top-spec N8 variant of the Venue N-Line.

With the inclusion of these new advanced safety features, the Venue becomes the fourth model from Hyundai to have ADAS, following the Ioniq 5, Tucson, and the all-new Verna. Alongside the addition of ADAS, Hyundai has also updated the transmission lineup for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. Hyundai has discontinued the 6-speed iMT and replaced it with the 6-speed manual transmission for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which is offered in S(O) and SX(O) variants. These variants also come with the option of the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, as before.

Like before, this turbo-petrol engine claims to offer 120 PS of maximum power and 172 Nm of maximum torque. The same engine is offered in the Hyundai Venue N-Line as standard in two variants – N6 and N8, both of which are now available with the transmission choices of 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT.

The addition of ADAS in the Hyundai Venue is seen as a direct response to the arrival of the heavily updated Tata Nexon, which has undergone extensive revisions in terms of styling both inside and out. Currently, the Venue is the only compact SUV in its category to be offered with ADAS. However, the facelifted Sonet, set to arrive in a few weeks, is also expected to feature the same list of ADAS features.

In addition to competing with the Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet, the Hyundai Venue also goes head-to-head with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. Meanwhile, the Venue N-Line directly competes with the GT-Line variants of the Kia Sonet.
