Adobe Acrobat AI Assistant: How It Works, Release Date, Availibility, And Price

In February, Adobe announced its AI Assistant for Reader and Acrobat users. Back then, the tool was available in beta to a limited number of users. However, the generative AI-powered conversational engine is now available to a general audience for a monthly subscription rate.

The newly released Adobe AI Assistant is available on desktop and mobile versions of Reader and Acrobat. Further, Adobe has also announced its availibility as a web browser extension so that Chrome and Edge users can also use it.

What Is Adobe AI Assistant?

The AI Assistant is a generative AI-powered conversational tool that can help users interact with PDFs in a manner that wasn’t possible before. For instance, users can ask the tool to generate a summary of the PDF they’re going through. It can also consolidate information in the form of key takeaways and transform it into text for emails, presentations, blogs, reports, etc.

AI Assistant is also capable of understanding questions and returning answers based on the literature in the PDF, which could be handy, especially for students or professionals who work on several documents daily. The tool also provides clickable links to help users locate the necessary information quickly.

Adobe AI Assistant Availibility

From April 16, 2024, Adobe AI Assistant will be available to a general audience. “As people around the world participate in tax season, Adobe is making the full range of Acrobat AI Assistant capabilities generally available to billions of customers across Acrobat Reader, desktop, and web,” the company writes in a release. The tool is also available on mobile (in beta).

The AI Assistant for PDFs is available at $4.99 per month (about Rs. 417). It is important to mention here that this is an early access rate applicable till June 5, 2024, after which Adobe could increase the price.

Are There Any Free Alternatives To Adobe AI Assistant?

Some apps allow users to interact with their PDFs for easy citations or return answers that could be difficult to locate. A few examples are PDFGPT and PDFGear Chatbot. Even ChatGPT supports a PDF reader, but the functionality is limited to ChatGPT Plus, a paid version of the AI chatbot by OpenAI.
