Weird & wonderful: Watch a steam train run through a Slovakian football stadium


Ever because the pandemic, the world of sport has skilled a number of bizarre sights starting from cardboard stands to socially distanced objective celebrations from the gamers. Now, a steam train is the speak of the city.

Slovakian minnows Tatran Cierny Balog has a fundamental stand that’s separated from the pitch by the Cierny Hron Railway line. Occasionally, an old school steam train passes through and briefly blocks the motion for the supporters.

Historically, the origin of the steam train isn’t linked with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cierny Hron Railway was constructed as a forest railway for logging operations again in 1909. In 1927, passenger visitors was permitted on the railway between Cierny Balog and Hronec.

The railway was closed in 1982, however ten years later, it was repaired by fans and re-opened as a heritage railway for vacationers.

The line is believed to be the one railway on this planet to cross through the center of a football stadium.

When the railway was laid in 1914, there was no football pitch. That was constructed later, because the village grew.

Cierny Balog is a giant municipality, a conglomeration of 13 villages, which was one of many facilities of the anti-Nazi Slovak National Uprising throughout the Second World War.

The Cierny Hron railway observe is now 17 kilometers lengthy.
