SALINAS – A Soledad man has been arrested for the alleged drugging and rape of a victim in May 2021, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, detectives with the Sheriff’s Office arrested 21-year-old Deleon Carcamo. He was later booked into Monterey County Jail for rape of a drugged victim, kidnapping with the intent to commit rape, penetration with a foreign object on an unconscious victim and child endangerment. His bail was set at $1.1 million.

On May 15, 2021, at around 5:09 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to Natividad Medical center on a report of a possible victim who had been drugged and sexually assaulted, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. After speaking with the victim, detectives discovered that the incident allegedly took place in an unincorporated area outside of the city of Gonzales.

Through their investigation, detectives developed probable cause to believe Carcamo was the suspect.

More than a year and a half after the incident was initially reported, detectives located and arrested Carcamo at around 2 p.m. Monday on the 300 block of Canal Street in King City. During the arrest, Carcamo was found to be in possession of a concealed loaded firearm.

Following Carcamo’s arrest, detectives served a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of Ortiz Circle in Soledad.

This is an ongoing investigation.
