It’s quite common to see someone wearing workout clothes with no intentions to exercise, like donning a Nap dress while wide awake. But what about slipping on a swimsuit when there’s no beach or pool in sight? Per Kim Kardashian, why not? With swim dresses and cycle suits on the roster, Skims, the solution-oriented brand, is on a mission to completely change the way we think about our summer wardrobe with wear-everywhere swimwear.
“The concept of wearing swim in the water or at the beach is a given, but I would constantly think: What am I wearing beyond that while lounging by the pool, boating with kids, doing water sports, or going out to dinner on vacation?” Kardashian exclusively tells Vogue. “My idea has always been to bridge that gap between in and out of water and create a complete wardrobe of options—this next drop has even more solutions to fulfill those needs, which is exciting.”
After instantly selling out (and receiving about 200 weekly requests on Instagram since March), the brand’s core collection of swimsuits will finally return at 12:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, July 28 in new colorways and unexpected designs. Think body-hugging tank dresses available in tonal hues (marble, ochre, almond, cocoa, gunmetal, and onyx) and an on-trend bubblegum pink shade called taffy.
The lineup also features long and short-sleeve swim shirts as well as miniskirts and sarong skirts that can be worn just about anywhere. But the pièce de résistance: stretchy elbow-length gloves reminiscent of glamorous opera-ready accessories.
