Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons & Tesco: Cheapest supermarket delivery charge – ‘it’s great’

Thousands of retail workers as well as many others are being notified by the NHS Track and Trace app to self-isolate. For Britons who are self-isolating, food deliveries may be the only option.

Like Tesco, the supermarket giant also has a choice of delivery passes, with a minimum spend of at least £40.

Sainsbury’s said: “We’ve increased the number of home delivery and Click and Collect slots available and are able to offer over 850,000 weekly slots.

“As a result, both our existing customers and new customers have access to more slots, when they want them.”

Sainsbury’s also has its own express delivery service, Chop Chop, which promises a grocery delivery within 60 minutes.

“Our website shows all available delivery slots – there are no further slots other than those shown.”

Customers shopping online at Asda can get home delivery on a minimum order of £40.

It will cost between £1 and £4.50, dependent on the time slot chosen.

The supermarket giant also has a delivery pass which is available for 12 months, costing £6 each month.

Asda has said that if the delivery pass doesn’t save customers more money than they would have spent on standard delivery charges, it will give them an eVoucher for the difference.

Frozen food specialist Iceland offers free delivery on any orders over £35.

Discount supermarket Aldi also offers a Click and Collect service as well as selected stores being available on Deliveroo.

Taking to Twitter to share their experiences on home delivery, one customer explained: “I use Sainsbury’s home delivery because I don’t feel comfortable going into store. I think it helps to see the offers online too and the delivery drivers are always polite.”

Another said: “I use Sainsbury’s Chop Chop service, it’s great and I wouldn’t go back to using anything else now.”

“Thursday is my supermarket delivery day, I love Thursdays,” a third wrote.
