Rift Apart PS5 Graphics Modes Explained

0

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart for PS5 offers a host of visual options. Found in the game’s settings under the Graphics Mode section, there are three to choose from which impact Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart PS5 frame rate and resolution in some important ways. Here’s what you need to know.

By default, the Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart PS5 Graphics Mode is set to Fidelity. This caps the frame rate to 30 with graphical features like ray-tracing, enhanced lighting, additional VFX, and increased scene density all making an appearance with what Insomniac describes as a “4K-resolution picture”.

As for Performance RT, Insomniac describes this in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart as a 60fps mode that includes ray-tracing while presenting a “lower-resolution picture with adjusted lighting, VFX, and scene density.”

Finally there’s Performance which essentially promises 60fps minus ray-tracing in favour of a higher resolution though Insomniac hasn’t given a concrete figure to this, most likely due to some dynamic scaling being used.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart PS5 — Best Graphics Mode?

We played through all of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart in Fidelity mode for our review as the other two options — Performance and Performance RT had not been made available at the time. For what it’s worth, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart in Fidelity Mode is fantastic with no perceptible frame drops whatsoever. Even at the very end when the game throws everything at you, it holds up just fine.
