Police seeking community’s help in locating suspect, considered to be armed and dangerous – Monterey Herald


MARINA – Police are asking for the community’s help in locating a Prunedale man – considered to be armed and dangerous – who is suspected of attacking an employee of a local business last week.

Police have identified the suspect as 38-year-old Miguel Ramirez Barajas Jr.

On Friday, Jan. 20, at around 9:38 a.m., Marina Police were dispatched to a report of an assault that occurred in the 3200 block of Dunes Drive. There, the assault victim, identified by police as an employee of a local business, told officers he was approached and punched in the stomach by Barajas Jr.

Police said Barajas Jr. then continued to assault the victim by putting on a set of metal knuckles and striking him in the face twice. Barajas Jr. then pulled a metal pole out of the ground and struck the victim in the legs, according to police. Following the assault, Barajas Jr. proceeded to brandish a handgun before fleeing the scene.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Barajas Jr. is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and brandishing a firearm. Police said he is known to drive a dark colored 2007 Chevrolet Colorado pickup with the California license plate 73125N1.
