Phones launched this week: Vivo V25 Pro, Realme 9i, Infinix Hot 12, OPPO Reno8 4G, and more


The third week of August saw five smartphone launches in India and globally. Infinix and Vivo kicked off this launch spree with their Hot 12 and Vivo V25 Pro smartphones respectively. This was followed by OPPO revealing its Reno8 4G in Indonesia, Motorola announcing the new Moto Edge (2022) globally, and Realme taking the wraps off its most affordable 5G offering in 2022 yet Realme 9i 5G in India. Infinix Hot 12

August 17th saw Infinix taking wraps off Infinix Hot 12, which is an entry-level smartphone with a massive battery capacity. The phone also flaunts a textured finish on the back panel, which comes in three colour options: Turquoise Cyan, Exploratory Blue, and Polar Black. You can get the Infinix Hot 12 via Flipkart at Rs 9,499, but you’ll have to wait till August 23rd to get your hands on it.

As for the specifications, the Infinix Hot 12 sports a 6.82-inch HD+ 90Hz IPS LCD panel that gets power from a MediaTek Helio G37 chip with a 6,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. It packs 4GB RAM with 64GB storage – expandable up to 1TB – and boots Android 11-based XOS 10 out of the box. For photography, it houses a 50MP triple rear camera setup and an 8MP front-facing camera.

Vivo V25 Pro

Vivo launched its Vivo V25 Pro on August 17th. The handset retails at Rs 34,999 for the 8GB/128GB model, while the 12GB/256GB unit costs Rs 39,999. The phone comes with a curved display and back panel and is available in two colours: Pure Black and Sailing Blue. Interested buyers can get the Vivo V25 Pro via Flipkart, Vivo e-store, and retail outlets starting August 25th.

As for the specs, Vivo V25 Pro ships with a 6.56-inch Full-HD+ 120Hz AMOLED panel and triple cameras on the back: 64MP primary, 8MP portrait, and 2MP macro. Powering the device is a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chip and a 4,830mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging. It has a 32MP selfie camera and runs on Android 12-based Funtouch OS out of the box.

OPPO Reno8 4G

OPPO announced (via) the sixth member of OPPO’s Reno8 series in Indonesia on August 17th. Called the OPPO Reno8 4G, it will be available for sale in the country from August 26th at IDR 4,999,000 (Approx. Rs 26,900) in Dawnlight Gold and Starlight Black colour options.

OPPO Reno8 4G flaunts a 6.43-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED panel that supports a 90Hz refresh rate. At the heart of the device lies a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chip with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The handset gets its power from a 4,500 mAh battery with 33W charging support. OPPO Reno8 4G has a 32MP selfie camera and triple rear cameras: 64MP main, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth.

Realme 9i 5G

Realme unveiled a pocket-friendly 5G smartphone with a stylish design, the Realme 9i 5G, on August 18th. It has vintage music CD-like rear panel, and the Realme 9i 5G’s colour names – Soulful Blue, Rocking Black, and Metallica Gold – are inspired by music too. This affordable Realme 5G phone is priced in India at Rs 14,999 for the base 4GB/64GB model, while the 6GB/128GB option costs Rs 16,999. You can pre-order it starting August 24th from and Flipkart.

Realme 9i 5G

Realme 9i 5G rocks a 6.6-inches Full-HD+ 90Hz IPS LCD panel that gets its juice from MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. It has an 8MP snapper and a triple rear camera setup: 50MP primary, 2MP portrait, and 2MP macro. Realme 9i 5G runs on Android 12-based Realme UI 3.0 out of the box.

Moto Edge (2022) 

Motorola introduced its Moto Edge (2022) in the US market on August 19th. It is the first smartphone that packs the new MediaTek Dimensity 1050 chip. This Motorola phone is available in a sole Mineral Grey colour option and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, priced at USD 498 (Approx. Rs 39,800).
