Oscars 2023: RRR’s Naatu Naatu wins Best Original Song, makes history

RRR song Naatu Naatu has won the award for Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards. The song is composed by M.M. Keeravani with lyrics by Chandrabose and features the voices of Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. SS Rajamouli’s RRR has made history as Naatu Naatu is the first Indian song to win the category.

RRR’s Naatu Naatu has landed a satisfying win at the Oscars 2023. The song was up against Applause from Tell It Like a Woman, Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick, Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and This Is a Life from Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Naatu Naatu has been making waves ever since RRR released back in March 2022. It features the film’s lead cast Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The hit song was also performed at the Oscars. However, the film’s cast did not join the onstage performance.

RRR is one of three Indian films to be nominated at the Oscars 2023. While All That Breathes did not win in the Best Documentary Feature category, The Elephant Whisperers won the Best Documentary Short category.
