Former India hockey participant and coach M Okay Kaushik on Saturday died after battling Covid-19 for the previous three weeks.
He was 66 and survived by his son and spouse.
Kaushik, a member of the 1980 Moscow Olympics gold-medal profitable Indian staff, had examined optimistic for Covid-19 on April 17 and was admitted to a nursing house right here.
“He was shifted to ventilator this morning but passed away just now,” his son Ehsan instructed PTI.
Kaushik had coached each the senior males and girls`s groups. Under his teaching, India males`s staff gained a gold medal on the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok.
Also, Indian girls staff had gained bronze medal on the Doha Asian Games in 2006 beneath his teaching.
He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1998, earlier than being bestowed with the Dronacharya award in 2002.
