The Mumbai Indians Women are looking invisible this season of the Women’s Premier League. They became the first team to qualify for the playoffs of the inaugural edition of the WPL.
With this win, Mumbai are at the top of the table and are looking on a roll this tournament. Without many star players in the tournament, they still were able to dominate in this tournament. The Delhi Capitals are in the second position and also look to finish in the top 2. This loss took a massive effect on the net run rate of Gujarat. RCB are eliminated from the tournament and will look to play for pride in this WPL further.
Mumbai Indians put on a very good total of 162 runs on the board on a good batting pitch. When Hayley Matthews was down for a duck, Yastika and Sciver-Brunt put up a second-wicket stand of 74 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur responded to the opportunity to play substantial innings with a 29-ball 50. With the ball, Sneh Rana showed great initiative, and Gardner got 3 wickets. This season, Brabourne has been a hitters’ haven, and the Giants will enjoy chasing down 163. The ball was stopping and turning during the first innings but Mumbai adapted quickly to put a healthy total on the board.
They became the first team in this event to defend a total of under 200. Nat Sciver-Brunt gave her team a perfect start by trapping Dunkley LBW with the opening ball, and MIW never looked back. The match was ended when Ash Gardner outside-edged one to be well-taken at cover-point. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. From that point on, the game meandered as both sides engaged in a predetermined resolution. Mumbai Indians Women appears to be a pretty solid team with both their batting and bowling covered. Except for Kalita’s one error in the field when she let a four escape, their fielding tonight was also fantastic.
