Last Thursday, members gathered in West Hollywood for Vogue Club’s first-ever Los Angeles event, kicking off the brand-new series Meet The Founder with entrepreneurial wonder-woman Emma Grede. The British businesswoman is best known for her roles as co-founder and CEO of Good American, founding partner of Skims, and board chair of the 15 Percent Pledge.
Amidst the rosé colored walls of The Britely, partygoers were greeted by passed canapés handcrafted under the vision of Chef Wolfgang Puck and a selection of specialty cocktails before Emma Grede and Vogue’s Laura Paterson took to the stage. The two discussed everything from body diversity in fashion, professional role models, co-founding with the Kardashians, and problem-solving unforeseen hiccups in a growing business before Grede answered the burning questions of Vogue Club members.
“There is some power in people underestimating you, because they don’t see you coming,” Grede said. “I never take anything personally, and I never let anything hurt me or stand in my way. Actually, quite to the contrary, I let it all fuel me.”
