How to Fly a UFO in Fortnite (Season 7)

Mobility has always been an important part of gameplay in Fortnite, and Season 7 offers players a new way to get around by adding UFOs as drivable vehicles. The theme of Fortnite Season 7 is Invasion, with aliens from outer space attacking and abducting players on the island. Each match, players can find several UFOs hovering above the map and terrorizing opponents with their lasers and abductions. Players can shoot down these UFOs using mid- to long-range weapons, eliminate their alien pilots, and commandeer the vessel to get around the map and gain an advantage over the competition.

As with other vehicles in Fortnite, UFOs can run out of power, called Battery, so players won’t be able to fly indefinitely. However, while they are in the air, they will have full access to the lasers and abduction beams to take out other UFOs or players. UFOs in Fortnite are not indestructible and can take damage and eventually crash-land if other players want to shoot them down. Here’s how to find and fly UFOs in Fortnite Season 7.

Where to Find UFOs in Fortnite Season 7

To find UFOs in Fortnite Season 7, players will need to use their map. Each match, a few of the major POI names will flash and glitch in purple. These are locations where UFOs will appear, usually three in each location.

Players can land at one of these POIs directly from the Battle Bus to start their hunt for a UFO to fly. If possible, it helps to choose less popular spots further away from the center of the map to avoid traffic from opponents.

Once players land, they will want to make sure to pick up a few weapons. The best options tend to be long-range weapons like rifles, though mid-range weapons can work as well. It is also important to pick up a decent amount of ammo; like most cars, UFOs have around 600 health.

Regardless of how many UFOs players see at a certain POI, it is best to focus on just one vehicle and ignore the rest. Players will need to shoot the UFO until they deal enough damage to cause it to descend. They will want to be careful, however. UFOs are not defenseless in Fortnite Season 7, and the Trespasser flying one can use a laser beam attack, as well as abduct the player and teleport them elsewhere, preventing them from finishing the job. They will need to dodge these attacks and continue damaging the UFO until it descends and lands. They will need to be certain not to damage the ship too much, as they want it in decent flying condition.

It may also be possible for players to willingly stand under the Tractor Beam and get abducted by the UFO. They can use the abduction beam to get a closer shot and down the ship more easily. This can be riskier, but rewarding if executed properly. If players choose this method, they will want to make sure to have enough healing items on hand in case something goes wrong and will want to aim for the Trespasser node that appears as they get closer to the ship to focus their fire on the pilot.

Even though one player shoots down the UFO, other players can easily commandeer the vessel. The player wanting to fly the UFO will need to be quick about getting to it and defend it from opponents. They may also need to eliminate the alien inside once they reach the ship if their attacks have not done so already.

There is at least one location where a UFO always spawns on the map. The UFO is parked outside Kevolution Energy at Steamy Stacks. It typically has 100% of its Battery and, if players can get there first, they shouldn’t have to fight as hard to use it.

Once players down a UFO in Fortnite and defeat the Trespasser inside, they can fly the ship. Similar to using a Choppa or car, players will need to keep an eye on their fuel. UFOs run on Battery rather than gas, and it is possible to run out mid-flight and crash-land unexpectedly. The Battery can recharge, however, if players take a moment to land and wait.

Players will have access to the Laser Beam and Abduct features once they are in the cockpit. However, these features do have a cooldown period players should be aware of, so timing and aim will be important. The Laser Beam and Abduct work against vehicles, items around the map, and even other players.
