- Cindy Crawford shared a stunning throwback photo on Instagram wearing a plunging red gown in honor of this year’s Oscars awards.
- The throwback was to her iconic Versace gown that she wore to the 1991 awards ceremony.
- Fans are showering the 57 year old with love.
Amidst all of the 2023 Oscars chatter, Cindy Crawford is here to remind us that she, too, has wowed on the red carpet. The 57 year old just posted a stunning throwback picture to Instagram, wearing a plunging red gown by Versace for the 1991 Oscars.
Crawford reminded us that the plunging neckline and vibrant cherry red weren’t the only reason this moment was so significant. “It was actually the first time a Versace gown had ever been worn on the red carpet,” she wrote in her caption, with the decades-old photo featuring the one and only Gianni Versace.
She continued to describe her red carpet experience in the caption, writing, “I had walked [the Versace] runway in a similar dress so when I found out I was going to the Oscars, I asked Gianni if he could make it in red… he said yes and the rest is fashion history ❤️.”
And 30-plus years later, this look has gone down in Oscars history as one of the best red carpet moments ever. Maybe it’s the sultry cut or vibrant color … or maybe it’s just simply because Crawford knows a timeless style when she sees it.
Friends and fans flooded the comments section with shared nostalgia and eternal love for the award-worthy look and the star. Donatella Versace shared in the moment by commenting with some signature black hearts “🖤🖤🖤.” One fan chimed in with, “The one and only Gianni; the one and only YOU 😍.” And the winner for best caption goes to Jonathan Van Ness, who wrote: “*looks at picture * reads caption * puts phone down * starts slow clapping building to raucous applause * stops clapping* looks around empty house* picks phone up* carries on. 😍.”
While Crawford loves a good throwback or even re-creation of an epic pic, she lives in the now, embracing her body at 57. She’s rejected the notion of being “ageless” in the past, saying at the time that, “Aging is what happens if we’re lucky … It means that I’m alive.” So while she still enjoys a good jaw-dropping throwback photo once in a while, Crawford appreciates keeping it real and honoring time.
Commemorating her 57th birthday recently, the supermodel shared a celebratory post writing, “As I get older, I realize the importance of acknowledging my gratitude for life and living another year. I’m blessed to get more time to learn and grow and love and evolve.”
Crawford has had too many memorable looks to count, but we’re sure that she’ll continue to keep us on our toes with both her stunning style and her important messaging. Nonetheless, you can be sure that we are anxiously anticipating whatever she brings to the red carpet next.
