EA Games hacked, players’ data secure and ‘unharmed’

Electronic Arts is the latest victim of hackers. The popular tech website Motherboard is reporting that the popular video game publisher who’s responsible for making games like Battlefield and Need For Speed has been hacked.
The website has confirmed that they have found several underground hacking forums listing around 780GB of data from the company and they are trying to sell the assets.
The screenshots on these forums also suggest that the hackers have been able to acquire the source code of FIFA 2021 and both source code and tools of EA’s proprietary game engine — Frostbite. The game engine is found in popular titles including Battlefield and FiFA 21.
While some forums are claiming that they have also hacked into the company’s software development kits.
The same has been confirmed by Electronic Arts to Motherboard. The publisher confirmed that they have been hacked and the data selling on forums were stolen from them.
The publisher also confirmed to the website that necessary actions regarding the breach and they have already made the security improvements. Also, they are investigating the recent incident and working with law officials and experts.
Meanwhile, there will be no impact on the games or their business. They also confirmed that players data is secure and it was unharmed during the breach.
This isn’t the first time such sort of thing happened. Recently hackers hacked CD Projekt Red’s source code for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. Nintendo was also a data breach for SNES and Nintendo 64 games including Super Mario and Zelda (unreleased).
