Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to lock horns in Riyadh

Cristiano Ronaldo and World Champion Lionel Messi will renew their rivalry on Thursday in an exhibition match at the King Fahd Stadium here. Ronaldo will lead Riyadh ST XI, a team comprising players of two of Saudi’s top clubs—Al Hilal and Al Nassr—against Messi’s Paris Saint Germain.

Last month, Ronaldo signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Saudi club Al Nassr, estimated to be around 200 million euros. However, he has not yet been able to play for them since he’s on a two-match ban by England’s FA for snatching a phone out of a fan’s hand last April.

Messi meanwhile, is on a high after helping Argentina win their third World Cup in Qatar last month. He was adjudged the tournament’s Best Player as the South Americans beat France in the final.
