The village of Chikmagalur in the Indian state of Karnataka is also known as Chikmagalur. Chikmagalur is famous for its serene atmosphere, lush green forests, and high mountainous areas in the foothills of Mullayanagiri. Also known for coffee, Chikmagalur is known as Karnataka’s ‘coffee ground.’ She is one of India’s biggest coffee producers. The city is crossed by National Highway 173 (India). It is a wonderful six-lane road to Hassan, which you will enjoy driving. The capital of Bangalore is 250 km away.

Chikmagalur is one of Karnataka’s most peaceful and picturesque places. The meaning of Chikmagalur will certainly elevate your eyes when translated into English – literally Young Daughters’ Town.

The legend is that Sakharayapatna ‘s ruler, Rukmangada, has a daughter. This town has been given as a dowry to his daughter. The city is a calm and beautiful location. Here the climate is healthy.

  1. Mullayanagiri

Chikmagalur, which is called the Mullayanagiri, is the highest peak in Karnataka. The peak is nearly 2000 meters in height. This peak should look like the backyard of a trekker. Mullayanagiri is part of the Baba Budan Giri Hill range, situated at a distance of 16 km from Chikmagalur. Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in the Karnataka state, 1930 meters high.

There is a narrow road from the Sitalayangiri temple to Mullayanagiri which overlooks steep cliffs. Driving to the top is little difficult, but the road is not so good from Sitalayangiri to Mullayanagiri and so you will have to drive on a narrow road. We visited the road on 10 Oct 2015. The road was under construction.

On top of the hill is a small temple. You can see the Arabian Sea on clear days from the highest point of the hill. The little hill in the complex of the temple is Karnataka’s highest peak. Two roads are impossible because of the narrow road to the temple. In Karnataka, this is a great trek.

Trekking in this place is certainly a memorable experience in comparison with other places in Chikmagalur. Even if you did it once, your consciousness is full of memories.

The mountain lures you back to scale wherever you are. All ingredients of an adventurous outing are in trekking expeditions. These nature trails are characterised by exotic flora. There are plenty of places with wonderful views.

In spring the best time to walk here is. The heat may become somewhat exasperating during the summer, although the region has a good climate. The paths are flooded with water during the monsoon.

  1. Kemmangundi

Kemmangundi, a scenic hill station located on the hills of Baba Budan Giri, at a distance of 55 km from Chikmagalur. At 1434 meters above sea level, Kemmangundi is surrounded by thick forests and the year-round climate.

This hill is in Tarikere Taluk. This is a resort. The hill station is located approximately 1400 meters above sea level. Kemmangundi was a summer retreat center, which was also known as the Sri Krishnarajendra Hill Station. This trend started during Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV summertime in this place.

When Krishnaraja Wodeyar 4 was here for the first time, he was stunned in the background of the wonderful Baba Budan Hills. He was inspired here to construct a resort. Then the government of Karnataka handed over this resort. It was actually donated as an act of generosity to the government.

Kemmangundi is rounded with Baba Budan Giri and wounded with silver mountain river cascades and luxuriant flora. It has beautiful gardens and lovely mountain and valley views and is a pleasure for the eye. It has an excellent view. A must-see from different locations in the district is spectacular sunsets. Kemmangundi offers to the adventurers a lot of climbing paths and tough jungle trails. This place has a lovely rose garden and other attractions. At about 10 minutes’ walk from this main location, there is a place known as the Z-point, which gives you a picturesque view from the western Ghats of Shoah grass.

  1. Kudremukh

Southwest of Chikmagalur Town is the Kudremukh range at a distance of 95 kilometers. Kudremukh means, literally, Face of the horse (in Kannada Kudure means horse and silk means face), so named because of its unique shape of the peak of Kudremukh. The large hills overlooking the Arab Sea have deep valleys and steep cliffs. Kudremukh is rich in deposits of iron ore at an altitude of 1894,3 meters above sea level.

A holiday at the national park Kudremukh is an experience different from anywhere in Chikmagalur, Germany. The location is approximately 96 km from Chikmagalur town. Situated at about 1800 meters above sea level in the pristine surroundings of the Western Ghats.

There are many advantages to this high altitude. One of them is this place’s weather conditions. Even in the heaviest summer months, the national park has calm and mild weather.

  1. Baba Budangiri

The Baba Budan Giri Range or Chandra Drona Parvatha, which was known to have one of the highest mountain summits between the Himalayas and Nilgiris, is north to the town of Chikkamagaluru. The peak is named after Baba Budan, a Muslim saint who had been in this region over 150 years ago.

Datta Peeta has several high mountain rises in Chandra Drona Parvatha. This is a popular tourist destination located in the Baba Budan Giri range. The name of the mountain is Muslim Saint Baba Budan.

Three caves are here. Here are three Siddhas. Religious oracles are Siddhas. These caves celebrate an annual ceremony. Try to make it to these caves when you are in the Baba Budan Giri hills. The landscape is spectacular around this area. This place is frequented by the combination of scenic beauty and fascinating caves.

  1. Kalhatti Falls

It is 10 km from Kemmangundi. It is a few steps away. Water cascades in the middle of a beautiful landscape from the top of the Chandra Drona Hill. An old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, built in a gap between rocks, can be found in Veerabhadra. After crossing the waterfall, this temple can be approached.

In the Kalhatti Falls, you are wrapped in charm by nature. You can feel pure, refreshing, and charming the elements of nature here. When you see it in close quarters the magnetism of this cascade is obvious. The falls are revitalizing in the surrounding regions. It is a refreshing round of walks in nature.

Here there is so much. You are in the greenest backyard of nature. The Kalhatti Falls is situated near Kemmanagundi and has all the natural blessings. They are in an untouched environment. Numerous mountains and dense foliage form the backdrop.

  1. Hebbe Falls

As this cascade is in this region, Hebbe Falls can be visited. The falls are 10 km away. If you fit or opt for a means of transport, you can walk all the way. You never feel tired because of the natural beauty of the environment and you always ask for much more.

Another picturesque destination in Chikmagalur is Hebbe Falls. From Kemmangundi Hill Station the falls are accessible. This hill station is located 8 km away. The falls have stunning greenery surrounding them. The area consists of dense forests, dense leaves, rich flora, and hills.
