Chico’s oldest fire station gets new look | Photos


CHICO — Since it was built in 1962, Chico’s Fire Station 1 hadn’t received a major renovation until recently.

The building was relatively quiet Thursday morning with no firefighters on site, just workers looking through blueprints and making adjustments to the construction.

Chico Fire Chief Steve Standridge said the project is a total overhaul that will add features like private chambers, a new day room/kitchen and quarters for the battalion chief.
