Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday proposed the development of 8,500 km freeway by March 2022.

Four poll-bound states — Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal and Assam — bought a serious chunk of the proposed new freeway projects.

Presenting the Budget on Monday, Sitharaman proposed 3,500 km of freeway in Tamil Nadu at an funding of Rs 1.03 lakh crore, and 1,100 km of freeway in Kerala at an funding of Rs 65,000 crore.
