Bali Vice Governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati AKA Cok Ace has given his frank assessment on tourists on the island in response to the naked German woman scandal.

This week, a viral clip triggered outrage in Bali and beyond showing a 28-year-old woman named Darja Tuschinski fully naked and disrupting a Balinese dance show at a temple in Ubud.

Cok Ace told reporters today that he deeply regrets the incident.

“Especially since it occurred in Ubud, where culture and tradition runs deep,” he said.

The vice governor then lamented certain types of tourists that Bali seems to attract.

“It’s not just a Bali issue. There are countries at war, countries in economic turmoil, [and their people] see Bali as having this extraordinary pull,” he said.

“Everything is cheap [in Bali], the people are kind, so [foreigners] come to Bali. Not just the good ones; the stressed ones, too.”

As for Tuschinski, officials said that she was admitted to the Bali Provincial Mental Hospital right after the incident.

Police previously stated that she became depressed as she can no longer afford staying in Bali.
