Array of hotter Audi models coming to Australia later this year

Five high-performance, limited-production Audi RS models are due to arrive in Australia later in 2023.

Audi has confirmed its special edition RS4 Competition and RS5 Sportback Competition, as well as the RS6 Performance and RS7 Performance, are due locally in the second half of this year.

Pricing and full specification for these special edition models have yet to be confirmed but the regular RS4 starts at $157,600 before on-roads, the regular RS5 Sportback starts at $160,600 before on-roads, the regular RS6 starts at $232,200 before on-roads, and the regular RS7 starts at $239,200 before on-roads.

The RS4 and RS5 Sportback Competition are both powered by a “retuned” 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine producing 331kW and 600Nm. This is mated to a recalibrated eight-speed automatic transmission with drive sent through an all-wheel drive system.

Despite the RS4 and RS5 Sportback Competition’s engine outputs mirroring the regular model, it has a lighter exhaust, and stickier Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubber.

This helps reduce the 0-100km/h sprint time by 0.2 seconds to 3.9 seconds in the RS4 Competition, and by 0.1 seconds to 3.8 seconds in the RS5 Sportback Competition. The top speed has also been increased to 290km/h.

Features that are on the list for Australian-delivered RS4 and RS5 Competition models include 20-inch milled alloy wheels, adjustable coilovers, and a quicker fixed ratio rack for the steering.

The Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback Performance on the other hand are powered by a tweaked 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 463kW and 850Nm. This is 22kW and 50Nm more than the regular models.

This is mated to a recalibrated eight-speed automatic transmission with drive sent through an all-wheel drive system. There’s also a lighter centre differential and 8kg less insulation.

Thanks to these changes the 0-100km/h sprint time on both of these limited editions has been reduced to 3.4 seconds, and the top speed has been increased to 305km/h.

The RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback Performance will be available with optional 22-inch lightweight alloy wheels with sticky Continental Sport Contact 7 rubber.

Customers will be able to choose between matte grey and black highlights on exterior elements including the front spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser, window surrounds and side mirrors.

Inside there’s a choice between blue or carbon finishes, along with Virtual Cockpit display modes that are exclusive for Performance models

These four special edition Audi RS models will follow after the RSQ3 Sportback Edition 10 years, which was recently detailed. It’s due to arrive in the second quarter of this year in “strictly limited numbers”.

Power comes from a carryover 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine producing 294kW of power and 480Nm of torque. This is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with drive sent through an all-wheel drive system.

Highlights of the RSQ3 Sportback Edition 10 years includes 21-inch light double-spoke alloy wheels finished in black, black brake calipers, darkened Matrix LED headlight internals, and gloss black exterior accents.

Inside, there are special leather and Dinamica RS bucket seats with back covers in matte carbon, as well as a new jet black upholstery finish, copper top-stitching, matte-finish carbon inlays, and edition-specific illuminated door sills.

As noted above, pricing and full specifications for the Audi RS4 Competition, RS5 Sportback Competition, RS6 Competition, and RS7 Competition will be announced closer to their Australian launch in the second half of 2023.
