Heidi Klum fans know she loves to wear unique pieces that serve as conversation starters. But folks on Twitter weren’t prepared for her 2023 Oscars look and couldn’t stop talking about the statement she made.
On the night of the 95th Academy Awards, the America’s Got Talent: All Stars judge attended the 2023 Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscars party with her husband Tom Kaulitz. For her first Hollywood moment of the evening, Heidi chose a bright yellow Georges Hobeika gown. The eye-catching outfit featured a long-sleeved shift dress with a high slit and a gold belt that cinched the waist. But the design element that stole the show was the multitude of feathers adorning the top part of the piece.
Since the ensemble was so bold for the red carpet, Heidi made sure the rest of the look didn’t clash.
For accessories, the supermodel matched the all-yellow attire with a pair of gold strappy heels. She also offset the color by opting for teal blue earrings and a similar jewel-toned ring. The German native wore her signature blonde hair straight with bangs framing her face. As for her makeup, she swiped on smoky eyeshadow and a barely-there neutral lip color.
When photos from Heidi’s arrival began to circulate on the internet, it caused a commotion amongst those keeping tabs on Oscars fashion. Reacting to the outfit, many took to Twitter to share their mixed reactions over the former Project Runway star’s couture choice.
On one hand, some appreciated the eclectic look. “I can’t hate it because she always makes every event fun. Gorgeous bird vibes,” one person wrote. On the other hand, a few couldn’t wrap their mind around the concept. “What in the hell 😆 And I do like Heidi Klum, doesn’t mean sometimes people’s fashion is a little off ☺️ 💛,” a different follower said. “Almost every questionable look I have seen tonight was at the Elton John party 😭😭 this is just … ,” another added.
While Heidi’s avant-garde approach to red carpet attire made a lasting impression, she didn’t wear it for too long. She later changed into a light blue beaded sheer gown while walking the blue carpet at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscars Afterparty a few hours later.
Opinions aside, this fashion moment proves one thing: Heidi commands the attention in a room, no matter what she wears.
