In essence, World Voice Day is a celebration of the remarkable gift of voice.

The idea of dedicating World Voice Day (WVD) to the voice was first initiated in the year 1999 in Brazil by a group of voice care professionals. Post the establishment of Brazilian Voice Day, people across the globe started recognising them globally to promote vocal health and awareness of their vital role.

World Voice Day: Significance

According to the Voice Foundation organisation, the day is a crucial one to enlighten the public about the essential role that the human voice plays in our daily lives. Another significance that the day holds is its purpose to motivate people to take care of their voices. It raises awareness about the necessity to seek help when needed.

On the day, doctors, researchers and experts from across the world engage in detailed discussions to increase awareness of the need to prevent voice problems.

World Voice Day: Celebrations

In a bid to celebrate the special day, several events are organised worldwide including artistic performances, activities and health improvement events. While many events conclude by the end of the day, a few of them get extended for days, weeks and sometimes even months. It needs to be noted that a few countries do not celebrate World Voice Day in April and have a different month marked for the special day.
