Visa Cash App RB VCARB 2024 revealed, 2024 F1 calendar, RB drivers

Red Bull’s sister team has unveiled the first car under its new ‘RB’ identity. The VCARB 01 will be driven by Ricciardo and Tsunoda.

The rebranded Visa Cash App RB team (formerly known as AlphaTauri) has unveiled its 2024 F1 challenger – the VCARB 01 – at an event in Las Vegas. It’s a year of changes for the team, with an all-new livery and new management. The one thing that does remain the same, though, is the driver pairing of Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda.

The VCARB 01 also moves a lot closer to sister team Red Bull’s concept, signalling a much closer collaboration between the teams.

The most striking change is the new blue, white and red livery – reminiscent of the colours the team raced in its Toro Rosso days.

A closer look reveals that RB has opted for a pull-rod front suspension layout, which has been used by Red Bull to much success in the current ground effects era. Further changes have been made to the sidepod area as well.

It’s a move that coincides several RB personnel moving to Milton Keynes – where Red Bull Racing is based – later this year. However, for now, the team remains based in Faenza, Italy.

Like most of the grid, RB continues with its 2023 driver pairing. Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda will be hoping to improve on the team’s eighth place standing in the championship last year.

But there have been a host of operational changes at the team. 2024 will be the first season with new CEO Peter Bayer and new Team Principal Laurent Mekies, who takes over after the retirement of long-serving boss Franz Tost.

Former Alpine sporting director joins RB as its new racing director, while ex-FIA official Tim Goss takes on the role of chief technical officer. Guillaume Cattelani – who has worked with Lotus, McLaren and Red Bull Technology in the past – comes on board as deputy technical director.

Pre-season testing gets underway in Bahrain on February 21-23 before the season itself kicks off at the same venue on February 29-March 2.
