Director Atlee has officially confirmed his collaboration with Varun Dhawan, not as a director but as a producer for the film titled VD18. The film which had its muhurat puja ceremony recently, features Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead role, marking her first in a major screen project. Atlee shared this news on Instagram, along with a video capturing moments from the puja and a glimpse of the muhurat shot.
The muhurat video was also shared by Varun on Instagram, who wrote, “Title reveal soon.” Wamiqa also shared the video with the caption, “Been waiting to share this news with ya all More exciting news coming soon! Watch this space.”
Atlee, along with the cast and other team members, announced the collaboration on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti and Pongal. The Muhurat Pooja Ceremony took place in Mumbai, where Atlee, serving as the presenter, revealed that A. Kaleeswaran would be directing the project. Described as an action entertainer, the film is anticipated to enthral audiences with its compelling storyline, impactful performances, and intense action sequences.
Produced by Murad Khetani, Priya Atlee, and Jyoti Deshpande, with Atlee as the presenter, the film is a collaboration between Jio Studios, A for Apple Studios, and Cine1 Studios. Starring Varun Dhawan, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Keerthy Suresh, the project boasts an impressive ensemble cast.
